Is the PGWP right for you?
The PGWP is an open work permit for graduates of eligible programs at eligible Designated Learning Institutions. Its length is generally tied to the length of your program and can be up to three years.
- You must apply within 180 days of receiving confirmation that you completed your program, and you must have held valid status as a student at some point during that time.
- Since November 2024, most applicants must also submit language test results. Many college programs must also meet a field of study requirement linked to occupations in long-term shortage.
- Full-time study, approved breaks and limits on distance learning all affect eligibility.
Most common mistakes we fix
Applying after status has expired, missing the language results, gaps in full-time enrolment, unclear completion letters, and not understanding when you are allowed to keep working while your application is processed.
How we help
- Eligibility audit: we review your transcripts, enrolment history and program eligibility before you apply.
- Timing strategy: we file at the right moment to protect your status and your right to work.
- Complete application: we prepare and submit it, then monitor it through to approval.
- Planning for PR: we map out how your work experience can lead to the Canadian Experience Class or the SINP.
